the dōTERRA community

Founded in 2008, the dōTERRA community was created with the mission of sharing the highest quality essential oils with the world. Recognizing the amazing benefits these natural products provide physically, psychologically, and emotionally, a group of health-care and business professionals dedicated their time and resources to making this dream a reality, and created dōTERRA, a Latin derivative meaning “Gift of the Earth.”

Not only does dōTERRA provide the highest quality and purest essential oils with CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® testing and transparency, but they also ethically source and create positive changes in disadvantaged communities throughout the world through their Co-Impact Sourcing initiative. dōTERRA also actively seeks to empower communities worldwide to make sustainable change by supporting initiatives that alleviate extreme poverty, improve quality of life, and ensure basic human rights through the Healing Hands Foundation.

These oils, while also being 100% natural, safe (when used properly), historically and scientifically effective, and affordable, are also fun to use and explore! There are many online communities, large and small, who are supporting each other in learning, growth, and healing, and who come together to make this journey enjoyable through conversation and creative methods such as DIYs and recipes. I am happy you are interested in joining this joyful and supportive global community!

how to use essential oils

There are three ways to use essential oils:

1. Through smell. We call this “aromatic” use of essential oils. This includes any application method that helps you experience the aroma of the oil. You can use essential oils aromatically by:
- Diffusing in an essential oil diffuser
- Applying a drop to your hands and inhaling
- Wearing as a personal fragrance

2. On your skin. “Topical” application of essential oils allows the oil to absorb into the skin. Some ways to use essential oils on your skin are:
- Massage
- Apply to targeted areas and rub in
- Add to lotions or moisturizers

3. Ingesting, or “internal” use of essential oils allows the oil to be transported throughout your body. Make sure the essential oil is safe for internal use first, and then try one of these methods:
- Add to a glass of water
- Take in a veggie capsule
- Put a drop under your tongue

Please be sure to refer to the Essential Oil Safety Guide on proper dilution, storage, “hot oils,” and how, where, and when to safely apply essential oils.
